I’ve got three posts lined up for the week before the fall photo session madness begins. I am looking forward to this season but also know that I’m going to be ultra busy and a little bit insane.
This session is a July session with a lovely family of four. Lots of captured connections!
Had a complete blast photographing Anne Anderson’s (of Foto Wonder) family. Anne and I met up a few years ago at a local photographer get- together and eventually followed through on our idea to swap and photograph one another’s family! I mean, why is it that we photographers photograph everyone else’s family but then neglect our own! I’m convinced (hopeful) that she nor I will ever pass up an opportunity like this again. We all had SOOO much fun!
Ok, on to the photos. Gotta say, probably one of my favorite family sessions of the year. Anne is so laid back yet so creatively involved in her kids’ lives. I know this because I read all the fun things she does for them on her facebook page! Her personality really came out when she suggested the kids fly their home-made kites, drink soda pop and eat strawberries with whip cream. And seriously, who else but another photographer would be comfortable suggesting that her family get into a full blown whip cream war?! Wait a minute, I think it was Anne’s idea that my own family get into a paint war at our session. Not fair…. our family’s mess didn’t wash out but theirs’ did! Ahh, who cares…. it’s all worth it for art right?! Read more ›
I’ve been photographing this growing family for the past four years. It’s been so fun watching them start from a family of five to a family of eight! I think it’s safe to say we’ve bonded. I know each child’s unique traits so it makes my job SO much easier!
They live in Ft. Wayne and travel to Hamilton County every year just for photos! Mom was worried that this time six kids would just be too much for all of us. I was up for the challenge though and so was she! Surprisingly, we found this to be the smoothest, happiest session of all. We can blame most of it on incredible weather (maybe the most beautiful day of the summer), space to run, excitement and of course creek hoppin’! I got a text from mom on the way home from her session. Her son Carter said this was the “best day of his life”! That made me so happy!

Summer has been great! I’ll miss the lazy days, sleeping in, no schedules etc….but Lord these kids need to get back in school where they aren’t fighting constantly! Here are a few happy and delicious shot from tonight. Nighty night!

I am so thankful for the cooler temperatures we now have. For about two weeks it was just disgustingly HOT across most of the nation. So when my client scheduled an 8 am session I couldn’t have been happier. Not only is light wonderful but the temperature was still bearable.
This is certainly one cute family. I loved their home session last time, but this time was takes the cake since Dad could join us!
This new client contacted me from out of state (NV) to document her visit with the grandparents who happened to live in good ol’ Westfield, Indiana. What I loved most about this session is the connection between the children and their loved ones…. especially the grandparents. I was in awe of how much Grandpa wanted to engage with the boys. He knows something for sure…. that these moments are priceless. Hope to see them again (with Dad) later this year! Read more ›
This photo session marked my client’s seven year wedding anniversary. They were unable to get many outdoor photographs taken at their wedding so it was special to be able to get a few outdoors SEVEN years later. I think we should all put on our white dress (maybe not the same wedding dress) and relive that day…. even if it’s 25 years later! Thankful to capture these for them.
Also, their son “N” is so sweet, trusting and LOVES to cuddle. So, he made my job pretty easy. Not much directing was necessary to get him to interact with him parents! He doesn’t eat much sugar due to a special diet so it was FUN to see him try a lollipop for the first time! Read more ›
I went back for Finn’s big one year session. Loved getting to know him and his lovely family. Watching him grow through my lens three times this year (here and here) was such fun. He is almost walking but has no problem getting where he wants to go. Such a vicious crawler! Read more ›
Lovely session taken early this summer at the Indianapolis Art Center. These lovely daughters “O and E” were quite opposite of what I usually work with. They were calm and compliant and a bit shy. So it took a bit to warm them up. Lots of tickles, running and bubbles and before you knew it they were good to go!
Also, we’re loading up the blog so that every other day or so a new post is published. So, keep coming back because there will be more to share! Read more ›
It doesn’t seem possible to be the mother of a 12 year old. It’s like she grew up while I blinked. It doesn’t help that she’s nearly 5’5″ and yes, a half inch taller than her momma. Boo hoo! But thankful she has the height!
We had a mommy daughter date just the other night. I told her on our way out I wanted to capture photos of her as a 12 your old, one -on-one just like we did last year. Read more ›
