She brought the sunshine | Carmel IN family photographer

Little "K" holding a cupcake

Two years ago, I had the privilege of photographing these sweet kiddos for the first time. I believe we mostly chased little sister around to keep her from the ducks in the pond. But this year we just let her boss us around while I took her photo!

We totally lucked out and had a warm March session! Thank you Lord! Then she “K” shows up with this shirt on…. it was meant to be! Read more ›

my most photographed client | zionsville, IN family photographer

I would have to guess this was our 25th session together? For real. And she’s only 2 1/2 years old! That’s because I had the privilege of photographing little “E” every month in her first year of life and then four times a year thereafter. How did I ever get so lucky?!! I have loved each and every session but what is so cool is the relationship we’ve built because of it. I love the entire family (even Grandma comes along!). They are so special to me.

This particular session we visited an old farm house that’s been restored. I really wish I would have recorded the sweet giggles and energy “E” had on the session. Such pure happiness of running around the exploring the beautiful location. She just needed her freedom to run and that she did! Read more ›

The Anderson Family | Carmel, IN family photographer

Feature Image

From time to time I will try and catch up on this blog even though I know it will never be current by a long shot!

Here’s the sweet Anderson crew. I met Mandy when our oldest sons were in Transitional Preschool together. Then she taught my son Caleb’s Mom’s Day out class. It was so fun and crazy to see how much the boys have grown! Here are some of my favorites from their Mini Session I held this summer. Read more ›

The Pecks | Carmel, Indiana family photographer

Feature Image

One of the best things about my job is getting to work with families year after year. You start to build a strong connection with one another and I’m a believer that a good connection with your subject just brings out the BEST in photos. So much that when Kerrie told her son that she accidentally scheduled the photo session on his birthday he was thrilled (hence the balloons and cupcakes)!

The Peck family is one of my very favorites because they show up as themselves and have FUN! They all dress in fun colors and try to stay true to their personality. Read more ›

How to cure the winter blues | Carmel, IN family photographer

Feature Image

My friends (the Carneys) took advantage of my new year sale and booked a session in February… trusting that we would make something fabulous out of the depressing month. Well, we did and it sure cured some of our winter blues! Laura told me the kids were acting like it was Christmas morning while preparing for the session.

One thing I quickly discovered were the very unique personalities of the Carney kids. Maddy is the sensitive “feeler”. She hugged me as soon as she saw me and said, “I am so excited to make memories with you today Mrs. Sherrick because they will last forever”? Seriously, what second grader says that? Now, if only she would have remembered that when her little brother bit her foot an hour later. Gabe (the middle child who ironically stole the show) is pretty much happy go lucky no matter the situation. And then there’s Graham who is a bit timid upon first meeting someone and always cautious and worrisome. Once he determines something is safe he proceeds in full boy mode. Read more ›

Maggie is three! | Indianapolis child photographer

Maggie sitting against a weathered barn

Every year this family makes the hike from Ft. Wayne for a family session. Then mom and Maggie make a special trip back in the month of January to for Maggie’s own session marking a new year. In past years, the session has taken place in my home, the laundromat and a cupcake shop. This year we wanted to do something new but also include cupcakes because it is her birthday. Our initial plan didn’t work out so we ended up going someplace I’d never been…. Confectioneiress Cupcakes & Sweets in Zionsville. Honestly, I had never even heard of this bakery but man am I glad I found them on Google! I brought several cupcakes home for my kids and they loved them. My daughter even said her tiramisu cupcake was the best cupcake she had ever eaten. Yes, I’ll be back because I see all their amazing creations on their Facebook page and it blows my mind!
