I really meant to post this session about 6 months ago But that’s how I roll these days. This is one of my very best friends and her family. I had SO much fun at our session last November. There are no words to describe how ridiculous we ALL were together (especially me) but in the end it sure was fun to act 12 years old again.

These were taken on the lovely streets and alleys of downtown Greenfield.

I am going into the archives a bit to show off a sweet newborn session. It’s been a few months and I am guessing Frankie’s not so little anymore. He was certainly a sweet little fella that had his own sleeping agenda that morning!

The shot above might be my favorite shot taken all year. It’s not a likely shot to capture! Both “first” babies together!

Each year, I try to make cute Valentine’s Day cards for my kiddos. Why? Because I can. I actually have time! Something that I have more of right now than I have in months. I use to despise the winter months for the obvious, but the longer I’ve been in the photography industry the more I am actually enjoying the season. It causes my business to drastically slow down which equals more time to breathe, sleep, eat and be with my family. I love it so much! At times though, I find myself getting antsy because I’m not doing anything else and have to force myself to just be still. So, Valentine’s Day is a pretty special time for us around here just to slow down and enjoy.

Here are the photos from Caleb’s Valentine’s Day cards. It was really fun to execute on both ends.

It was so fun to come back and see this family since our session last fall. Mia reminds me so much of her big brother when he was her age… although she does have him beat just a bit with her chubbiness. I absolutely love babies with rolls. It’s a good thing because all my own babies were quite full of them!

Looking forward to seeing them again this summer. I know big brother will be looking forward to it just as much!

It has been so fun watching Sam grow up in front of my camera into the sweet boy he has become now at age four. He is just as gorgeous as he was when I first met him. He loves having his photos taken nowadays as opposed to the past. I can’t say that I blame him though because 12 sessions in the first four years of life might get a little “annoying” to any toddler. But now… it’s all good. He LOVES every second of my attention. I think that has something to do with having a sister

Gracie just turned ONE!

It’s hard to believe she’s already walking. She’s about the cutest thing I’ve ever laid eyes on! Here’s the proof!

We finished up her session at The Flying Cupcake. She had absolutely NO problem smashing into the cake and devouring it! My kind of girl!

An Indoor, One Year Old Photo Session | Indianapolis baby photographer

I just met the sweetest little one year old and her family. I was so thrilled to get to be a part of their morning a couple Saturdays ago. Her big blue eyes and a whole lot of personality were really fun to capture on camera during this indoor photo session!

The above is a personal fav! I saw this as I was packing up to leave. Once I captured it, we tried to get the other dog to participate but it just wasn’t happening!

Please take a look at our website and see our new digital package and rates. We have eliminated the session fee and just lumped it into one package. If you had ordered the full CD and (40) 5×7″ prints in the past then you will be excited to see you will be saving $50 with the new rates. For those of you that booked your session prior to February 2013, you can still use the old rates, however if you get the CD you’ll want to use the new rates to save $50.

Why an in-home session can be anything but ordinary!

I love “in-home” sessions. When I began my business over seven years ago, I started by shooting indoors. Although the light isn’t the same as being outdoors, I’ve gotten pretty good at finding it inside a house using windows alone. So many memories take place right in the home. What a great way for your family to truly remember what life was like. Let me emphasis the importance of the house not being perfect. Because for most people, the house never is for longer than 30 minutes. I seriously doubt your kids will be disappointed that you photographed them at home but forgot to paint their room the perfect shade of blue or that you didn’t have coordinating pillows on the bed. They’re going to want the real memories.

These kiddos below are super fun. I’ve been photographing Liza since she was a wee baby. Well, and Jack….. I’ve photographed his first breath of life. So, yeah….. we’re close! Liza is such a mother hen and Jack is such a BOY. It’s been funny watching him grow up and wear his mother out He does things that Liza never dreamed of doing when she was that age. As in any girl, she had other tricks up her sleeve

As I was packing up, Liza was eating her snacks and ran over to me and said “I’m “Pinocchio” with a carrot as a nose. So cute.

You’ll probably recognize this family all over my website and blog. We’ve been great friends and neighbors for a decade now! I’ve watched these wild ones grow up from premature babies into tweens. I’ve also photographed them countless times. The last three years of family photo sessions are here, here and here. So, when deciding this year’s session location we had to think out-of-the box. A parking garage!! I might say it was perfect on three accounts:

full sun (we needed shade relief)
cupcakes for the sugar meltdowns
an escape from the wind. Note the crazy hair!

Ready, set, go!

My favorites from this session: 1. Dad taking one for the team. He had a huge migraine midway through the session. He took a small break and then plugged right along knowing that he was investing into family memories. Scott, you rock! I am sorry that the light got into your eyes. I can imagine why? 2. The sweet cupcake break because I got to eat one too. 3. The new words that we learned along the way. No shame if it results in pure belly laughs. 4. Kennedy’s windblown curls. 5. Scott and Ali still so in love all these years later. 6. The beer Ali and I had at the end of this very long session. Much needed. Now, what shall we do next year?

Ok, I’m trying to play catch up from 2012. I did a combined family photo session for a repeat client. This time I FINALLY got my camera on her beautiful sister, Erin and family.

They are a football playing family, that’s for sure!

So happy that the grandparents could come in for some sweet shots sure to make great memories.

It’s probably fair to say Gracie gets a bit of extra attention in the pack of boys.

Meet Matthias | Noblesville family photographer

In September of 2012, I was contacted by the St. Baldrick’s Foundation (childhood cancer charity) to photograph a VERY special boy (and his family) named Matthias. You may recognize this foundation for their head shaving events. Matthias was chosen to be ONE of FIVE of the St. Baldrick’s Foundation Ambassadors for 2013 because of his journey with cancer. At 3 1/2 months old Matthias was diagnosed with retinoblastoma in both eyes and had to undergo six months of chemotherapy treatments and various other procedures. Because the tumors were vast and growing, he had to have both eyes removed before his first birthday. Now, he has the most beautiful set of prosthetic blue eyes and lives a cancer free life full of joy and adventure.

I’m not going to lie, I was SOOO nervous for this photo shoot. I had a long list of specific shots to capture and my subject was blind?! I’d never photographed a blind person, let alone a blind four year old child. How would I ever get him to pay attention to me? He won’t be able to fall for any of my tricks because he can’t see me! Well, guess what. I was dead wrong. Upon meeting his family, I knew all was going to be just fine. Matthias was very sweet but also just as ornery as any other four year old boy. I was able to use my handy dandy “reverse psychology” most of the session to get him to stay involved. His lack of vision did not stand in the way of him acting like a seeing child. In fact, I was astounded at the things he COULD do!! He could go up stairs, jump off them, ride a bike, use a sit and spin and even climb a rock wall at the park. Seriously?? Many children with perfect vision are not even capable of all those activities. And don’t get me started on his intelligence. I’m sure part of his success is due to his fight for life from birth but the other part is most definitely from his amazing parents pushing him to the limit in every way. They do not use the excuse that his disability is a reason for weakness and over protectiveness. Instead, they face the harsh reality that Matthias HAS to live a big world full of a family and a future of people who can see. They don’t want him to miss out on opportunities because he never tried or said “I can’t”. SO with great encouragement they push. And guess what?

He succeeds.

Look at these beautiful blue eyes…. they were crafted after his mother’s eyes. Right here I think we were probably talking about fire trucks and sirens.

He made it to the top of the rock wall into his mother’s arms.

Their family chose to have their photo session at Cool Creek Park. We went down to their favorite part of the creek where the boys love to throw rocks at the metal beam. Matthias has a heightened sense of sound and gets a kick out of hearing his rocks hit the beam. They are also the type of people NOT afraid to get dirty if it means they have fun doing it! Definitely my kind of people.

Magnus and Matthias have a lot of fun together just like any other set of brothers close in age. They love and argue their way through life.

I think Matthias has a heightened sense of touch too. He was in HEAVEN!

I have been inspired by Matthias and his family. I left their session motivated to challenge myself and my family for more. If Matthias can do it and overcome his challenges then so can I! Thank you Matthias for showing me up!
